SYNOPSIS
The Porch Pirates follows Levi and is his two friends, Fingers and Big Ed as they stake out a house that receives a delivery package. However, as Levi attempts to steal the package, Hudson, Levi’s former stepdad who also happens to be a cop, opens the door. After inviting Levi inside, Fingers and Big Ed must come up with a plan to save their friend from trouble, however, things don’t go exactly as they planned.
DIRECTORS STATEMENT
I wrote The Porch Pirates first and foremost to entertain my audience; to make them laugh, have them on the edge of their seat, and to take them on an adventure. I’ve always loved films that can do that, balancing comedy with conflict, revealing issues and themes, not in an overly didactic way, but allowing the audience to work that out for themselves. I've tried to take such an approach with The Porch Pirates, touching on the wealth gap between Australian youth and baby boomers, whilst ensuring that such thematic concerns never undercut or takeaway from the entertainment value of the film.
